Parliamentary Liaison Officer - MP Tony Piccolo
Tony Piccolo is the Member for Light (Labor) and is seeking to recruit a recent law graduate for his electorate office based in Gawler, South Australia.
This position would suit someone with an interest in administrative law, public law and human rights law.
They would not require a GDLP, and would suit a person who does not want to work in a legal firm environment and has a commitment to economic and social justice.
An interest in, or have a desire to become involved in the political process, could be an advantage.
They do not need to be a member of the ALP, but would need to share the values of a centre-left political party.
They would be employed on a fulltime basis, as an Assistant and undertake a range of duties, including, but not limited to:
Act as a parliamentary liaison officer
Undertake case work
Advise the MP on legal matters
Interview constituents
Deal with Governments at all levels
Undertake a range of administrative activities/tasks
Represent the MP at various forums and events
Research and prepare speeches
The person would require outstanding:
Problem solving skills
Oral and written communication skills
Interpersonal skills
Work ethic
The person would have values that promote economic and social justice, and the benefits of supporting the common good.
The position does require a range of duties to be performed outside normal office hours.

The position would be available for an immediate start from January 2023.
