Shop Distributive and Allied Employees Association (The Retail & Fast Food Workers Union) — Legal Assistant

Responsibilites:

  • Collecting witness statements from SDA members.

  • Organising and maintaining documents in a paper and electronic filling system.

  • Meeting with SDA members.

  • Assisting in legal cases by organising documents and assisting with other tasks as needed.

  • Preparing briefs.

  • Gathering and analysing evidence and other data.

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong critical thinking skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Excellent organisational skills.

  • Must be able to effectively multi-task, manage time-sensitive documents and have exceptional organisational skills in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be able to function effectively in a busy, team-oriented environment.

  • A basic understanding of the legal system is preferred but not a prerequisite.
