Social Justice and Equity

The Social Justice and Equity Portfolio aims to assist students to gain new experiences and explore the intersection between student’s legal studies and social justice. As enacted through the 2020 Annual General Meeting, the portfolio subsumes the previous Equity and Wellbeing Officer role. Our portfolio focuses on the holistic wellbeing of each student and provides a diverse range of services and opportunities to enable each student to reach their own personal goals. We also seek to create stronger relationships with clubs and organisations both within and external to the university. We will run events and publish articles on topics of interest in the social justice sphere, and through our activities, we want to help create an inclusive and supportive environment for law students throughout their university experience.

Some upcoming initiatives to keep an eye out for

  • Monthly articles published on topical issues with a legal twist;

  • Social Justice breakfasts on important issues, featuring a special guest speaker;

  • 30-day challenges that anyone is able to participate in to help create a stronger community at law school;

  • Engagement in meaningful community activities like the annual Walk for Justice;

  • Interesting fundraisers and events expanding on initiatives such as bake sales!

We look forward to seeing you around campus and at our events.
